FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the most up-to-date and the most sparing kind of hair transplant operation – no scalpel, no stitches, and no visible scars!

The FUE method is based on extracting the hair units with the help of a hollow needle from the tonsure area that doesn’t run the risk of hair loss so that the damage to the donor area is the minimum possible. The greatest advantage of this method is that skin is not removed.

Hair grows in groups that are called follicular units (FU) or Grafts and is extracted with special extraction needles that match the unit’s size and have diameters of 0,6 – 0,9 mm. Using extraction needles of different sizes ensures safe removing of the follicular units without damaging hair roots. If the extraction instruments are too small they can damage hair follicles; if they are too big they also can cause damage, this time to the follicles around the extracted one.

The hair follicles are extracted from tonsure not randomly, but according to a certain system. The Grafts are extracted from different areas symmetrically. It is especially important not to make the hair of the donor area too thin, as it could lead to a loss of volume and sometimes even leave visible scars. Then the extracted Grafts are transplanted into the areas of hair loss. In order to do it small openings need to be pricked in the skin of the treated area in which the extracted Grafts are later transplanted. The optimal depth and growth direction have to be specially calculated. The little holes produced in the donor area by Grafts extraction close immediately after and contract. The scab usually falls in a week without leaving any visible trace. Normally the patient can return to his everyday activities in a few days with no restrictions.
